UBC Sauder School of Business
Having worked with Sauder in the past on various analysis, design, evaluation and development projects, the school naturally turned to Bayleaf to implement a new CMS and website featuring improved user experience and an online payment system.
It was determined that the Sitecore Experience Platform was the appropriate technology to handle the schools vast content, work flow, adherence to brand guidelines, authoring flexibility and integration needs. Due to the highly decentralized and political nature of higher education, all parties agreed that engaging in a complete web strategy review, information architecture review and redesign at the same time as migrating to a new CMS would extend out the timeline beyond what was organizationally acceptable. As a result the redesign was pushed to a subsequent phase.
Phase 2 of this project involved the integration of Sauder's Student Information and Registration System, a system previously developed by Bayleaf. This allowed course and program information to be made available to be published directly from the student information system and provided the ability for students to register for courses, programs and view learning history online. This phase also included the development and integration of a centralized payment gateway based on the Moneris Hosted Checkout solution. This allowed payment of online student registration and self-serve options while addressing ongoing PCI compliance mandates being pushed down by the University.
Phase 3 included developing a new web strategy, information architecture, content assessment and redesign. Due to the size and number of business units involved in the project, a business unit by business unit staggered approach was adopted.
